Liberals lie. Its what liberals do...

I think it’s a concerted effort to scare the public and, you know, say that if we don’t increase the debt ceiling it’s going to be Armageddon. It won’t be Armageddon. What’ll end up happening is we’re going to have to actually live within our means.
Live within our means? WTF?

Cut up the credit card and make do with what you have... If it's good enough for the "MASSES", it should be good enough for the "ASSES" in D.C...

The Democratic Party has a long history of scare tactics, so we shouldn't be surprised that the Dems are still crying, "The sky is falling!"

Frankly, a one-week shutdown of the federal government and a revocation of all our crappy politicians' wages would be one way to trim the deficit. Heh.

BTW, I could easily live within my pathetically low means if I weren't being raped all day every day by taxation. Just got my real-estate tax bill yesterday. Ugh. What a ransom I have to pay just to live in my house, which is assessed below the normal values in my region as my house dates back to 1935 and has no central AC and only one bathroom. The square footage is something like 1200.

All it means to not lift the debt ceiling is we don't barrow more money. What a novel concept that would be. I say don't raise it.

Here's the simple and obvious question. why don't we just cut spending? I mean by not cutting spending is what will lead us to financial Armageddon. Why aren't the Republicans making this point?

You are right on John, Just stop spending! The only Republican I have heard so far that has said that is Cain, and a few(very few) in congress.
